The theme for Wine Blogging Wednesday #12 is "Drink Local. Real Local." We are invited to drink a wine from the winery nearest the place we live. For me, that happens to be Cooper Mountain Vineyards.
I must confess that I was sorely tempted to cheat. Ponzi is less than a mile further than Cooper Mountain, and I have been more impressed with them on previous occasions.
Cooper Mountain Vineyards is a mere 5.4 miles from my home.
I procrastinated, and picked up a bottle of their Reserve Pinot Gris on the way home.
The wine is light yellow, with a very slight pinkish cast in the glass. It smells of melon, pear and citrus.
The taste is of apple, pear and melon. It's rather acidic; somewhat out of balance I think. I'm guessing that it's probably better with food.
Still, for $12, it's a very decent wine. Further evidence that you can't throw a stick in Oregon without hitting a quality vineyard.
